Echelon vs. Peloton : A Comparison

Echelon vs. Peloton : A Comparison

Posted by Ardent Fitness on Dec 28th 2020

So you’ve made the decision that it’s time to purchase a piece of fitness equipment for your home. The Peloton and Echelon Connect are two stationary bikes designed for cyclists and those looking to take their indoor workouts to the next level. Both pieces of home fitness equipment have different apps that offer unique elements to keep your indoor workouts exciting and challenging. While both bikes will provide you with a great ride, one may be better suited for your personal goals and fitness interests, though both Echelon and Peloton are equals in their category. Does that make it right for you? Or would an Echelon connected bike be a better fit? We’ll take a look at each.

If you have decided a spinning-style bike is right for you then it comes down to which one to choose, a Peloton or an Echelon. If your friends own a Peloton, and you want the interaction with them, it may make sense to purchase one. You can compete with them on leaderboards and take classes together. Peloton also features live weekly classes along with on-demand classes. However, the same can be said for Echelon; both bikes allow you to join classes with others and track your progress on leaderboards, and feature live and on-demand classes.

At present, Peloton has two bikes available, as compared to five options in the Echelon Connect series. Echelon makes a range of bikes starting under $1000 by utilizing your tablet as the monitor. Their higher-end bikes have a full-sized screen that swivels to accommodate workouts off the bike, which includes their “FitPass” featuring trainer-led yoga, stretching, pre-and-post workout sessions, meditation, pilates, kickboxing, Zumba & more, as opposed to a Peloton screen, which is fixed. The swivel screen allows you to maximize your space for workouts. With a flip of the screen you can workout without having to look at the screen over your bike.

Echelon’s fitness content is high quality. There are live classes every day and each one is added to their on-demand catalog. At present, there are over 6000 programs currently available. Echelon has a variety of products and only one subscription cost: at the moment, $400/year covers every product in your home from Echelon – the  ReflectRower, Treadmill, and Bike. There are six different subscription plans to choose from, versus just one option for Peloton. Another major benefit to an Echelon Connect: you don’t have to wait weeks or months to get one, they’re shipping now, as opposed to Peloton which has been plagued with fulfillment issues.

Both Echelon and Peloton have their pros and cons; we’ve crafted an overview of each bike below.

While there are many other connected bikes on the market, Echelon and Peloton are two of the top choices. Peloton has expanded in home fitness more than any other product, and they are the leaders in bringing the interactive experience home, but Echelon has leveled the playing field. No matter what  bike you end up with, you'll be investing in your health and enjoying the convenience of at-home workouts. We understand that consumers look at more than one option and choose the product that is best for their needs, and fitness equipment is no different. Ardent Fitness is here to help you navigate the options.
